Last week our weekly story was "Roberto Clemente: We Will Never Forget You". Because I am a Pirates fan I was pretty excited about this story. I researched about the stadium and the statues of Roberto. I found books in the school library to use in the classroom for extra reading. I also created a paper mache baseball to have the students draw baseball terms from.
For this lesson I took quite a bit of time in preparation. I made sure that I knew my baseball terms, the important people in the story, true facts about Roberto Clemente, and also baseball statistics. In turn this lesson went very successfully.
The paper mache baseball created a lot of curiosity in the students and helped to keep them engaged in the activity. One thing that was a big help were the other teachers in the room because they also knew a lot about baseball history and facts.
Next Time I do this lesson I will definately use the same type of lesson plan for it. I think that the lesson went very well and the students learned a lot more because they were engaged in the lesson.

A great artifact for your portfolio to show knowledge of content--you researched outside the content (reading) to bring in other important details to make it relevant and meaningful--good for you!
