The artifact that I chose to bring in was my Literacy Work Station Project. This project was created around literacy circles that were using books theme around the Holocaust and WWII. These literacy circle books were grouped for the students reading level and had varied books dependent on this level. The days were centered around reading in their literature circles and then breaking into stations which included many activities to address the levels and needs of the students.
I chose this artifact for the content and pedagogy characteristic because it illustrates my personal ability to modify lessons for students individual needs, e.g. their learning, syles, interests, and special needs. This also demonstrated many different reading, writing, and socical studies activities including mapping, time lines, literature cricles, writer's notebooks, and more. Through this station unit there were many different types of assessments, technologies, pulled on student's prior knowledge, and helped uncover misconcepions of this time. Overall this characteristic really evaluates my artifact in many meaningful ways.

I liked that you used multiple texts for you unit plan. I definitely think that this project represents content knowledge because you reviewed the books that would portray the holocaust.
ReplyDeleteLiterature circles are a great way to differentiate your instruction and teach from muliple disciplines. I personally have enjoyed teaching through this method and feel that is has a postive impact on student learning. This article does connect to this characteristic, but it is not described.
